Western

Frontier honor, land as pressure and draw, and the coming of law — a Historical Fiction subgenre.

What is Western?

Western (L'Amour, McCarthy, McMurtry) is frontier fiction: the land is both ordeal and beauty, honor and custom constrain choice, and violence lands as event when the story requires it. The country must pull as well as cost — a Western that never loves the country is incomplete.

How Bespoke Books implements it

In The Composer, Western is a Historical fiction subgenre (voice_id: western). It is not a top-level Genre card — pick Historical fiction, then Western. Read a sample from The Catclaw Line.
